To be is to be blameless, to not be guilty. To be found by all means not to be involved or responsible for a crime or action. In that case, are we innocent because we weren’t convicted of a crime? We all know that innocent people go to jail. They are falsely accused and sent to suffer unjustly.
We live in a world where innocence isn’t a guarantee of your safety. Your innocence may be the exact thing that destroys you.
Lets view this in a different perspective. Being innocent can also mean being naive. This particular attribute creates room for manipulation. Man is usually a wicked and deceptive creature always looking for an opportunity to take advantage of someone he/she considers to be weaker than them-self. To be innocent in a world of guilt is very risky.
You are instantly a prey for others to consume and manipulate. Your like a delectable stake set on a table surrounded by carnivores and all they want to do is satisfy their own selfish desires not caring about the consequences of their actions. The worst part of manipulation is using the persons emotions for you against them and at the end of the day the person is left, abandoned, heart broken and shattered.
At this point in time that innocence is put under scrutiny. He/She may no longer be so innocent after that experience. The question going through the mind of the victim is ‘Where do I go from here?’, ‘What the hell do I do not?’. Then the answer will be along the lines of revenge, redemption, going dark, change, suicide, growing above the situation, and all others.
The choice has and will always be yours to make. In most obscene cases innocent still lives in the victim ready to be manipulated again either by the same person or someone else. On the other hand redemption may find them and happened is restored.
I know a lot may think that my words are harsh and innocence is more than what I have said and I know that. You may also think I’m one slandering the innocent but I’m fairly just saying the cold hard truth. I envy the innocent to an extent though. I desire to have my innocence back more than anything. I desire to look at the world with the curiosity and awe of a child. Being innocent grants you the purity that most of us lack. The tragic thing is that once it is lost it can’t be restored.
You can only stay innocent and pure for so long before you are tainted by the injustice and corruption of the world. Some experience this earlier than most. It is possible to survive the corruption but you will be tainted even though it is very minute, the world would open you eyes to the very harsh reality of what it is. The world is a beautiful place. There a good people in it too. The problem is that there is more evil than good and even at that lots of people tend not the see the bright light at the end of the cave.
I won’t say I’m one of those good people or bad people. I’m just a person that sees the world for what is it. Every one is innocent until proven guilty. Every one has a chance to redeem themselves when the fall short. I give people their fair chance in life to show me who they are, how I react and what I think is my business and mine alone. I won’t judge someone based on looks cause life teaches you that looks are the most deceitful part of a person. I would like to be innocent again but I’m glad I’m not. I have no regrets because I believe whatever happened in my life was meant to happen, if it wasn’t it wouldn’t have. Coincidences don’t exist, reality does.
Don’t let the negativity and evil of this world based on the things that people have done blind you from the positivity and beauty of it. If you don’t believe the world is beautiful watch the sunset and sunrise.
Just because your innocence is gone doesn’t mean you have to be. Learn and grow. Don’t be a living corpse. There is more to life than whatever your past has done. It hurts but don’t let it be your forever, cause forever is a really long time to be unhappy.
